Murdoch University is a university based in Perth, Australia. It began operations as the state’s second university in 1973, and accepted its first students in 1975. Its name is taken from Sir Walter Murdoch (1874–1970), the Founding Professor of English and former Chancellor of The University of Western Australia.
Murdoch is where free thinkers from all over the world come together to make a difference. It currently has more than 18,000 students and 1,400 staff working together, exploring new ways of thinking and making discoveries. Murdoch is proud of their national reputation for excellence in teaching, research and student satisfaction. It has received a five-star rating from the Good Universities Guide for graduate satisfaction 13 times in 16 years. In 2008 it received a four-star rating in graduate outcomes, which indicates how their graduates are attractive to prospective employer.
Murdoch’s students are enrolled in over 200 undergraduate degrees and postgraduate courses across a range of disciplines, including Veterinary Science, Law, Teaching, Psychology, Business, Security Terrorism and Counterterrorism and Nursing.
Murdoch takes a flexible approach to learning, providing scholarships and a number of admission pathways, plus a range of internal and external study options to help their students fit study around their work and lifestyle commitments.
Murdoch University is also recognised as one of Australia’s leading research institutions and a member of Innovative Research Universities Australia (IRU Australia). More industries place their belief and resources into the university’s projects to provide the university’s research candidates and scientists with the opportunity to make amazing discoveries.
